Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship Eligibility Criteria

If the following criteria are fulfilled, the candidate is deemed eligible

House Rent Allowance

  • In case hostel accommodation is not available, Fellows will be provided with single accommodation by the host university. In these instances, the Fellow will be reimbursed on the rent paid (amount reimbursed subject to the ceiling of HRA and the Government of India norms).
  • In case the Fellow arranges their own accommodation, they will be entitled to draw HRA as per the categorization of cities by the Government of India.

Leave

  • Fellows will be entitled to leave for a maximum of 30 days in a year.
  • Fellows will also be entitled to take public holidays (on approval by the university head)
  • Fellows are entitled to maternity or paternity leave at full rates (as per the Government of India) during the duration of the fellowship.

Process of Releasing Grant

IIHS Fellowship Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to apply for RGNF:

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • Candidates must have basic proficiency in reading English.
  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any subject.
  • Candidate’s age must not be more than 30 years at the time of starting the program.
  • Candidates born on or after 1st August 1990 are eligible.
  • Candidates who have completed non-degree training and certification programs after their 12th class are also eligible.

IIHS Fellowship Selection Process

The Selections for IIHS Fellowship made on the basis of received applications and personal interviews. Around 100 to 150 candidates will be shortlisted for an interview based on the total number of applications. In the interview, an assessment is conducted to analyze the candidate’s statement of purpose and motivation. The interviews will be conducted in person or through Skype. They may also conduct telephonic interviews in exceptional circumstances.

The final decision for the admission will be made based on the scores from the written application and interview. All the fellows who get admission have to deposit a refundable amount of Rs. 20,000. So that they can secure their admission. On successful completion of the fellowship, the deposit amount will be refunded. However, the candidate who has financial needs may request a waiver of the deposit. This will be considered if the candidate will indicate it in the admission form.

The UFP is responsible for providing scholarships to all candidates who receive admission. But, unable to pay the program tuition, after reviewing their financial needs. That is why this program is the need-blind. The candidate’s selection and admission into the program will not be affected by their ability to pay.

IIHS Fellowship Benefits

  • Candidates will get the facility of 8 months in-class teaching that includes housing, internet access, housekeeping services, meals, and a central laundry. It will be followed by 2 months of internship placements.

IIHS Fellowship Fees

Shastri Research Student Fellowship for Postdoctoral Students

Shastri Research Student Fellowship for Postdoctoral Students enables candidates who have been awarded a P.hD degree to pursue further research in Canada or India. The candidate is required to apply for the fellowship within five years of receiving the P.hD degree. Moreover, candidates are not required to have an academic position in order to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

If the following criteria are fulfilled, the candidates are deemed eligible for the fellowship:

  • Candidates who are currently working as a postdoctoral fellow in any of the SICI member institutions are eligible to apply.
  • The candidates must possess a doctoral degree which is awarded by a Canadian or an Indian institution.
  • Candidates are required to apply within five years of being awarded a doctoral degree.
  • The candidate must possess oral and written proficiency in English.
  • The age bracket for the candidates is between 30-45 years of age.

Application Procedure

The application process and requirements for the fellowship is as follows:

  • Complete the application form and attach all the required documents December 2023.
  • Also, the candidates have to submit proof of their post-doctoral degree or their post-doctoral fellowship must be approved at the time of submitting the application.

Shastri Research Student Fellowship for Canadian Students

This fellowship is for Canadian students who want to pursue a course or an internship at Indian universities, provided it falls under the purview of the SICI. The list of member universities is available, click here.

Eligibility Criteria

If the following criteria are fulfilled, the candidates are deemed eligible for the fellowship:

  • Candidate must be from any recognized Canadian university that falls under the purview of the SICI.
  • Candidates must have obtained not less than 65% marks.
  • Candidates must be above 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Candidates must not be pursuing or enrolled in another degree it diploma simultaneously.
  • Candidates who have enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree and have completed six months or one semester from Canadian universities with one to three semesters remaining in their program are eligible to apply for the fellowship.
  • The candidate must possess oral and written proficiency in English.
  • The age bracket for the candidates is between 21-25 years of age.

Application Procedure

The application process and requirements for the fellowship is as follows:
