NPDF Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to apply for the NPDF Fellowship.

  • Candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • Candidates must have obtained a Ph.D./MD/MS degree from a recognized university.

NPDF Application Process – How to Apply for NPDF Online?

Candidates can fill and submit the NPDF application on or before 13th May 2020. Candidates must read the instructions carefully before filling the NPDF application form. NPDF Terms and Conditions

  • The fellows should not be availed of any other fellowship from any source during the duration of the fellowship.
  • The fellows are not allowed to work with the Ph.D. guide or co-guide. In general, it is also not availed at the same Department or Institution where the fellows have got their Ph.D. or MS or MD degree.
  • It is the responsibility of the candidate to identify a suitable Mentor under whom they would carry out the proposed research.
  • There is no additional provision for manpower support in this fellowship.
  • The duration of the fellowship is for 2 years and is purely a temporary assignment.
  • If the fellows intend to be away from the implementing institute, except for field-work related to the project regularly for a duration of above 8 weeks then they must seek the consent of the Board.
  • The research objectives are expected to be undertaken by the fellows during the entire period of the fellowship.
  • The Candidate can utilize the research grant for domestic travel, minor equipment, contingencies and consumables.

JC Bose Fellowship Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are active scientists and want to apply for JC Bose fellowship should possess the below-given eligibility conditions.

  • Candidates should be an active scientist having a record of outstanding performance apparent from the award of SS Bhatnagar prize and or fellowship of science academies (including engineering, agriculture and medicine).
  • The candidates should be in service as a scientist at the time of applying for this fellowship.

  • The term of the fellowship will be originally for five years.

  • The Heads of the Institutions can send the nominations; JC Bose Fellows and Presidents of National science academies.

JC Bose Fellowship Selection Procedure

  • The selection of JC Bose Fellows is performed periodically. Usually the selection procedure is conducted twice a year.
  • The selection is conducted by a Search-cum-Selection Committee especially developed for the objective, as per the comprehensive guidelines of the fellowship plan.

JC Bose Fellowship Important Guidelines

  • JC Bose fellows can get only one fellowship including individual fellowship amount and experimentation grant (part of the fellowship) only from one Government source. Nevertheless, they are not permitted to get any other fellowship of a related kind from any Government source. Any misinformation in this respect may commence to full recovery of J C Bose fellowship with punishing interest from the fellow.
  • The fellowship can be resumed for five years after a meticulous assessment of the research accomplishment of the fellow during the occupation of the fellowship. The fellows will be required to present a document highlighting the analysis work done during the prior five years, with a comprehensive list of publications/patents, and a workforce trained during the occupancy of the fellowship in the designated format. The standards for revival will be based on research achievement. Any other achievement, such as occupying leadership positions, will not be added as factors.

  • There is full flexibility in using the investigation grant of Rs. 15.00 lakh. Funding under this “Research Grant” head (Rs. 15.0 Lakh) can be used for the hiring of the workforce, consumables, national tour for self, students, other analysis staff, visiting scientists and international travel and per diem per year research purposes, chemicals, equipment items, repair of equipment, books and journals, etc.

Maulana Azad National Fellowship 2020 | Eligibility, Reward, Amount, Application and Selection Procedure

MANF Fellowship

MANF Fellowship 2020: The Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority candidates is established and financed by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. The fellowship is available to aspirants who belong to one of the Minority Communities, i.e. Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, Christian & Jain. The aspirants should be pursuing higher studies such as regular and full-time M.Phil/Ph.D. degrees in Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and Engineering/Technology. The reservation of seats for differently-abled candidates shall be made as per the terms designed by the Government of India.

MANF Objectives

The purpose of the plan is to present integrated five-year fellowships in the kind of financial support to candidates from minority communities, as announced by the Central Government to continue higher education such as M.Phil. and Ph.D. at Indian Universities/Institutions/Colleges included under section 2(f) of UGC Act. and considered to be Universities involved under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 and available to get grants-in-aid from UGC.

MANF Eligibility Criteria

An aspirant has to meet the following requirements to be qualified for the reward of this fellowship:

  • Earlier passing of CBSE/NTA-UGC-NET/ CSIR-NET exams will be a requirement for the reward of the fellowship.
  • The aspirant should be one of the minority communities (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi & Jain).
  • The aspirant should present the minority community certificate and authorised valid affidavit till the State Government/Union Territory government begins to circulate the minority community certificate.

MANF Fellowship Amount

MANF Selection Procedure

  • UGC shall verify online applications received within a given time frame on the designated web portal concerning the eligibility criteria as put down in the guidelines.
  • An Expert Committee will consider complete online applications established by the Commission. The judgment of the Commission will be final. The Commission holds the right to withdraw or cancel the fellowship without specifying any reason. The result shall be announced on the UGC website.
  • The chosen awardee will be provided to download the grant letter from the preferred web portal.
  • After downloading the reward letter, the candidate has to join the fellowship from the 1st of April of the current year.

Condition for Cancellation of MANF

The MANF fellowship could be cancelled under the following conditions:

  • If any aspirant is obtaining Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority candidates in a fraud way, the cancellation should be automated and the amount distributed shall be seized with interest at current State Bank of India rate for candidate loans.
  • If the candidate is caught with any misconduct.
  • Disappointing progress of research work.

DST INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship 2020 | Application, Eligibility Criteria, Result

INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship 2020: The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India (GOI), had begun the “Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)” program in 2008. This Plan has been created to implement contractual research jobs to young achievers for autonomous research and appear as a leader in upcoming science and technology subjects. Purpose of INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship

  • To present engaging opportunities to young achievers for promoting independent scientific outlines and start them in accomplishing long term careers.
  • They are expected to increase the high quality scientific workforce for scientific and educational institutions, especially the Central and State universities.
  • While the vertical movement among students in several INSPIRE elements would be promoted, the Scheme would also allow students for parallel entry into this component.

INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship

INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship Eligibility Criteria

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Citizens of India and Indian origin people including the NRI/PIO category with Ph.D. (in subjects such as science, maths, engineering, pharmacy, medicine, and agriculture) from any approved university in the world.
  • Candidates, who have presented their Ph.D. Theses and are expecting an award of the order are also eligible.
  • INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship Age Limit: The upper age limitation at the time of granting the offer should be 32 years regarding support for five years.
  • Applicants who are hired (in any manner i.e. permanent or in contract basis) with any company within India will be qualified to apply. Though, they will be counted only for the Research Grant part of the INSPIRE Faculty Award plan.

Desirable:

  • An applicant who is among the top 1% at the School Leaving Exam, IIT-JEE rank holder, 1st Rank Holder in graduation or post-graduation level university exam are eligible. These are practiced presently for recognising INSPIRE Scholars at the undergraduate level and INSPIRE Fellows for the doctoral degree.
  • Publications with whole Impact Factor 10 or at least three (one for Maths) research dissemination in SCI journals of high Impact Factor.

INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship Application Form

  • DST shall design a new Format for direct Application and Nomination in consultation with the Members of the Academy Panel.
  • Both plans viz, Proposals from academic institutions or industry R&D by their vice-chancellors/ Directors of Institution/ Head of Institutions/ Presidents and candidates of Science Academies from India and Abroad/ Eminent Scientists based on peculiar knowledge and Direct Application from the Applicant shall be possible.

INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship Selection Procedure

  • INSA would be demanded to regulate the implementation of INSPIRE Faculty Scheme.
  • An Apex Level Committee would be organised for necessary appraisal and tendering specific guidance on the selection of applicants.
  • Institutions holding the situation of Centre of Excellence like IITs, IISc, TIFR, CSIR Laboratories etc. and Central & State Universities decided under the PURSE plan of DST could operate their internal methods and short-list applicants for installation under INSPIRE Faculty Scheme.
  • INSA in discussion with DST would make a panel of Chairmen and Expert Members for multiple disciplines for Institutions to organise proper Appraisal and Screening Committees.
  • Discipline-based committees for examining and screening the applicants who apply immediately or are specified without assistance from Host-Institutions.
  • INSA in the conference with DST will develop an Apex Committee to reconsider the choice of many short-listed applicants.
  • The candidate needs to get a suitable host institution wherever in India for seeking the INSPIRE Faculty task and may be in communication with a senior faculty/scientist in the host organisation to make the application in deliberation with him/her, if needed.

Number of Seats/Position Under INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship

  • A maximum number of positions under the INSPIRE Faculty Scheme will be 1000 per year.

INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship Duration and Rewards

  • Each chosen INSPIRE Faculty shall be qualified to get a consolidated price equal to the measure of the Assistant Professor of an IIT as Fellowship amount. Besides, a Research Grant of Rs 7 lakh per year for five years shall also be given to each prosperous applicant.
  • The INSPIRE Faculty post is for a maximum period of five years.
  • If INSPIRE Faculty gets a permanent place during the occupancy of the position, the Fellowship sum will be discontinued from the date the INSPIRE Faculty meets in a permanent position, but he/she may proceed with the INSPIRE Faculty Scheme availing Research Grant share for the remainder period to research the new job.
  • The INSPIRE Faculty is suitable for implementing for any competing awards from all funding companies during the occupancy of the INSPIRE Faculty post and would be favorably regarded by DST for future assistance at the end of 5 years based on appearance and technical merit.

Conditions of Shortlisting of Candidates

  • The number of shortlisted applicants is completely based on the merit of the applicants. There are no boundaries to the number of applicants shortlisted from multiple channels or sub-disciplines falling under the main system.
  • The committee may see for the prior academic record (achievement at HSc /BSc/MSc/DE/ME/M. Tech etc.) and the disclosure record of the applicants.
  • The nature of the research project may be given due consideration. In specific, proof of independence in research may be examined in particular.
  • The shortlisting group may give a letter Grade : (A) to candidates Shortlisted for Interview: Y/N.

INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship Interview Procedure

  • The Committee may impose the fundamental understanding of the applicant and whether he/she would be a great faculty material.
  • In special, the explanation of the ability to carry out autonomous research may be completely assessed. The innovation of the research program may be carefully examined. The routine addition of Ph.D. research work may be controlled.
  • While it is pleasing to have the host institute recognised at the time of the interview, this is NOT a necessity. The chosen applicant can always reach proper institutions.
  • Resuming the work in the same place where candidate has done his/her PhD may be hindered.
  • The Committee may provide due weightage to the report of advice from the supervisor.
  • The applicants have been advised to perform their research projects in 15 minutes. Questions from the committee will follow this for about 15 minutes.
  • The interviewing group may provide the Grade: Chosen for Inspire Faculty Plan: Y/N

Roles and Requirements of Host Institution

  • Host organisations should be promoted to present a friendly atmosphere for the awardees to exceed in their work and should observe them as potential assets for faculty growth.
  • INSPIRE Faculty post shall not be open for renewal after completion of 5 years term. Host-institutions are expected to examine “INSPIRE Faculty” for permanent jobs in the due program, subject to attending institutions’ execution assessment guidelines.

  • Minimum knowledge/ commitment demands from Host Institutions are
    • Introduction to all common infrastructural offices, adequate laboratory and office area ( individually or on shared basis), computing, library access, etc.,
    • Knowledge on whether acceptable new areas/directions of research are being offered through this plan
    • Knowledge on whether the INSPIRE Faculty will be permitted to conduct Ph.D. students, select research fellows, individually or jointly with a perpetual faculty member.

DST Postdoctoral Fellowship Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must ensure that they fulfill the following criteria to be deemed eligible:

  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Engineering/Science OR the candidate must have submitted the Ph.D. thesis with research interest primarily in Nano Science and Technology, along with an excellent academic record.

  • Fellows will also receive an annual research contingency grant of INR 2,00,000
