The target audience of the social advertisements are :

  1. disabled children who are deprived of education.

The first advertisement is trying to get across that freedom is the birthright of all. It says that educational rights should also be given to disabled children. The second advertisement is warning people not to cross the unmanned railway crossings when the train is coming. It can lead to serious consequences.

(b) We should always use branded and packed daal.
(c) The advertisement is speaking to the consumers to use branded daal. However, in reality there is a slight difference between the packed and unpacked daal.
(d) I would feel unhappy we need to able to critically understand why they are particular images, the personal emotion that they are appealing to and the ways in which this effects, how we think about ourselves, we can use the product or not able to buy it.

II. (a) In the second advertisement given in the Text-book the visuals mother and son is used and the text is Show your child you care attracts:
(b) Personal emotions (such as mother’s love for her child) values are being promoted in this advertisement.
(c) This advertisement speaks about the mother s concerns for her child. But if the soap is costly, it creates mixed emotions in our mind. Do mothers who cannot buy costly soap, don’t love their children?
(d) If a mother could not afford to buy this product she begins to feel that she is not giving her child her best care.

Can you explain two ways in which you think advertising affects issues of equality in a democracy?
Answer:
Advertising affects the issues of equality in a democracy in the following ways :
1. In a democratic country all people are equal and should be able to lead a life of dignity however, advertising tends to promote a certain lack of respect for the poor people.

2. Advertising, because it appeals to personal emotions also tends to make people who cannot afford certain brands feel bad. They feel that they are not able to give their love ones the best care that the brand product appear to offer.

3. In addition, advertisements after show us images of the life styles of rich people and seldom show in the reality or peoples’ lives that we see around us.

Making an advertisement requires a lot of creativity. Let us imagine a situation in which a manufacturer has just made a new watch. She says that she wants to sell this watch to school children.
