Eligibility Criteria to Join BSF in India

  • In order to join BSF, a candidate must have passed class 10th for the position of a constable. For sub-inspector or any other high-level degree, you must have a graduation degree from any recognized university.
  • There is no requirement to have any particular percentage to qualify in terms of educational qualification.
  • To qualify for the BSF, a candidate must have to satisfy the height criteria that is 170 cm for male candidates and 157 cm for female candidates. There is relaxation for SC, ST, and other backward castes.
  • For male candidates, the chest size is taken into consideration. Your chest size must be at least 80cm without expansion and 85cm without expansion. This criterion is not applicable to females.
  • For both male and female candidates, the weight should be according to the body mass index (BMI).
  • A candidate must have high colour vision without any physical defect. The eyesight must be either 6/6 or 6/9 without spectacles.
  • If you have any medical disorder or any genetic issue like knock-knee, colour blindness, or any other physical problem, etc. Then, you will not be able to join BSF.

Salary of a BSF in India

The Salary in BSF is quite decent and it varies from position to position. The salary for the constable is around 8-9 thousand rupees, and for the sub-constable, assistant sub-inspector it varies from INR 9,000-12,000. For the commandant, it goes up to 46 thousand per month. Apart from salary, you will get some other benefits from the government also.

Selection Procedure to Enter BSF in India

  • 1.6 km race in 7 minute
  • Long jump test
  • 1.2-meter High jump
