About IAS
IAS is an All-India based civil service which stands for Indian Administrative Service. Union Public Service Commission conducts a common exam called Civil Service Examinations through which the candidates for this service are recruited.
IAS has overshadowed all the other civil service examinations conducted by UPSC in India. IAS officers are made District Magistrates. They can order to control mobs or different situations with open fire, and even the transfers of certain police officers also need the approval of District Magistrates.
About IPS
IPS stands for Indian Police Service and is jointly ranked as most important Civil service with IAS. Candidates for IPS are also recruited through UPSC conducted civil service examinations. Candidates, who clear the entrance exam, sit for interviews and get selected through them.
IPS officers are given the posts of Senior Superintendent Police. IPS officers are more concerned about the city’s law and order, and sometimes they need approvals of IAS officers to issue certain warrants.
