Is NCERT syllabus in depth?

Education is important in everyone’s life. It helps to learn new skills, be disciplined and progress in life. There are many schools in the world. Each school follows a different type of board of education. The various boards of education are CBSE, CISCE, NIOS and State Board. The choice of the board of education in the early stage will later make an impact in the child’s life.

Most of the CBSE schools refer NCERT syllabus. NCERT books are famous due to its key features. These books cost less. The language and style of the book are easy and simple. So, anyone who reads this will be able to understand all the matter and concepts of the book easily.

NCERT books give the students detailed information about the different topics. There is no exaggeration. All the information is to the point. They help us save time because of the easy language and to the point information. The student does not need to read any unnecessary information and all the basics are clear with this information.

These books will help to fetch enough marks for the students if one has followed everything mentioned in the book. They are light in weight and are easy to carry.

Moreover, the NCERT books have questions at the end of every chapter. This helps the student to get a clear idea of what kind of question can come in the exam. If the questions given in the book are thoroughly solved, then one gets into the habit of solving any type of question. This will help the students in the future.

NCERT questions are helpful not only for students in school but also for the candidates prepare for different entrance and competitive exams.

Most of the questions in entrance exams are similar to that of NCERT questions. The candidates should follow the NCERT questions thoroughly. They must follow old NCERT question papers as entrance exam questions are similar to NCERT questions.

Even though there are these advantages of referring NCERT books, is NCERT syllabus in depth? No, they are not in depth. They only have concise information. If one has to prepare for NCERT board examination or other entrance and competitive exams, then they can use the NCERT syllabus.

But if they want to know the concepts in detail, learn extra information they need to refer another syllabus. Like for example, some of the questions in medical entrance exams are of a different level. For that, they cannot depend just on NCERT syllabus entirely. They need additional books to solve those questions. Moreover, it is not good to know a little about something as “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing”.

For a person who has studied in ICSE and then shifts to NCERT syllabus, it is not difficult to understand. This is because ICSE has a vast syllabus and the students are taught in much detail. Even the language is complex in ICSE compared to NCERT. NCERT syllabus is much easier but content-wise it is not enough for the students. Both these syllabuses focus on the contents in a different way.

It is important to provide the right type of education for the beginning of a child’s life. This will later help the person to progress in life. If there is a confusion about which type of board of education they should choose, they can research more on it. Some may believe that education is just what the children are taught in institutions.

This shows that education is calculated or measured in terms of degree, marks or promotion. There is no effort to learn new skills, improve habits, capabilities. But education is beyond this. It is not just about marks. Some may get good marks while some may not.

The ones who get good marks, study in the best institution and then work in the best place. This does not mean that the ones who get low marks are not intelligent. Marks alone do not determine one’s intelligence and success in life. Marks are just a medium. What is important here is that what one learned by appearing in the examination.

Education should be seen beyond this. There should not be any limit to education. Education does not stop only at schools or colleges. It continues till our death. People must think about education more than just the marks. The focus must be on knowledge, experiences, wisdom, and lesson learned in the entire journey of life.
